Annapurna Encounter offers Dolpo from Beni, one of the most unique trekking in the mid wild west of Nepal, starting with a scenic drive to sub-tropical of Pokhara valley a tourist haven with its picturesque surrounding with pristine Phewa and Begnas lake in the shadow of great Himalayan range of Annapurna and Manaslu and Lamjung Himal towards north, from here driving for few hours to another warm areas of Baglung Beni town for overnight stop.
From this town of Beni following the Mygdi river to Darbang where this classic journey begins in Nepal’s mid west high hills on less visited and traveled by western trekkers, this route to lower Dolpo from Beni and Dhorpatan is an exploration adventure, walk leads to several passes of over 4, 500 meters and reaching at Nepal’s last Wildlife Hunting Reserve at Dhorpatan midway between Dolpo in the Tibetan plateau and Dhaulagiri Himal range, from here onwards to highest inhabited land of Dolpo. Geographically a southern extension of Tibet, it lies within the borders of Nepal, since 1984 has been the country’s largest national park and conservation, the park sustains an abundance of wild life including Musk Deer, Himalayan Blue Sheep and the legendary elusive Snow Leopard, as well as being home to a fascinating race of Tibetan speaking people, highlanders of Dolpo are traders and then reaching at Tarakot and Dunai the main town and headquarter of Dolpo area, and concluding this outmost and overwhelming trip at Jhupal for the flight back to Kathmandu with super panorama of mountains during the flight to Kathmandu after the Dolpo from Beni trekking an adventure and experience of a life time with Annapurna Encounter.

Starting this wonderful adventure with a morning drive through many interesting towns and farm country on the main Nepal’s highway following the river Trisuli for some time and then heading west to reach the famous touristic destination at Pokhara, from here our journey continues further west to reach at a large town of Beni for overnight stop.

From Beni another short drive on the rough jeep road following Myagdi river passing several small rural farm villages and farm fields to Darbang village, located on route to Dhaulagiri base camp and Dhorpatan to Dolpo area, on reaching at this warm place at Darbang, our trekking starts from here walking for 3-4 hours following the raging Myagdi river past farm

On leaving Darbhang with the first day walk to another village towards Muri near Takam. Walk passes through forests covered with oak, pine and rhododendron trees and then reaching Magar tribe village at Muri near Takam a large mid hill village, from here the route to Dhorpatan and around Dhaulagiri route breaks, as our route heading beyond North West.

Today walk leads towards the first pass of this trip at Nautale pass, as the morning trekking heads past Pelma and Dhule with smaller villages and scattered farm houses, walk leads for about six hours through gradual trail passing green hills on either side of the gorge valley. After a while with steep uphill walk for few hours through villages and then reaching the base of Nautale at 3,250 meters high for overnight camp.

Morning walk starts from here leading further North West with super vista of Dhaulagiri massif peaks and Gurja Himal where the Sen khola (stream) and Soure khola flows, walk leads following the river upstream till Purbong is reached for overnight camp, Purbong is the only village till Tarakot is reached on this route of ours avoiding much villages for countryside and wilderness.

On leaving Purbong camp into complete wilderness walking through rhododendron forest and meadows and passing several Sheppard huts and shade along the way, overnight camp close to the base of Jaljala pass at 3,750 meters high, after a scenic, strenuous and interesting of today’s walk.

Morning starts with a steep climb to Jaljala ridge and the pass with an uphill for few hours after the hard climb reaching the top of the ridge pass where its festooned with prayer flags and offering, as Buddhist believes the La or pass, abode of nature spirits and gods the top offers stunning panorama of Mt. Dhaulagiri 8,167 m with Gurja Himal 7,195, Dhaulagiri V and Annapurna Himalaya peaks at close distance, after catching the super views descend towards a gradual slope and then reaching grassy field with rhododendron bushes till a small place of Samdeling village is reached for overnight stop.

Today walk leads to our main destination reaching at lower Dolpo area of Tuppa Tara and Tarakot, morning starting on the flat land trail most of the way following river and then into a woodland covered with oak, pine, rhododendron, juniper and green small vegetation, and finally reaching at Tuppa Tara for the overnight stop for two nights. This village with an old Bon Monastery, adjoining several villages inhabited by hill tribes and as well people of Tibetan origin who supplement farming with trade and animal husbandry.

After breakfast free for short hike and to observe the locals with their daily farm life routine with a panoramic view of the surrounding landscapes and distant snow capped peaks, visit the monastery, chortens and local markets. From Tarakot which located on route to Dunai, Jhupal, upper Dolpo, upper Mustang and towards Beni via Dhorpatan. Today the last day of walking on route Dunai getting in jeep or any other available transport to Dunai and towards Jhupal, morning walk leads through many spread out farm villages and Sheppard’s shelters and towards Thulo Bheri valley near Dunai area, and then walking past Dunai hospital to get over a suspension bridge and to Dunai town the main town with Nepal government headquarter of whole Dolpo, from here after having lunch, drive to Jhupal for few hours for the last night in Dolpo area.
