Upper Mustang Bike Permit for Indian Nationals: Indian citizens require the same UMARAP as other international visitors. However, Indian nationals do not require a Nepal visa. All permit arrangements are handled by Annapurna Encounter on your behalf.

Itinerary
Explore the day-by-day plan for your journey.
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. Our representative meets you and transfers you to your hotel in Thamel. Afternoon briefing with your riding guide — route walkthrough, bike inspection, permit verification, and gear check. Evening welcome dinner.
Depart Kathmandu on the Prithvi Highway — a scenic mountain ride alongside the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers. Arrive Pokhara by afternoon. Check in lakeside, brief rest and final gear preparation. Overnight Pokhara.
Ride north through Baglung and up the Kali Gandaki valley. The landscape transforms from lush subtropical hills to open Himalayan valleys. Pass through Tatopani (hot springs stop), Ghasa, and Dana. Arrive Kalopani with stunning close-up views of Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Nilgiri (7,061m). Overnight Kalopani.
Ride through Marpha — the Apple Village of Nepal — and Jomsom, the administrative hub of Mustang district. From Jomsom, the road turns north to Kagbeni: the dramatic medieval gateway village to Upper Mustang. Permit checkpoint here. Explore the 12th-century Red Gompa and fortress walls. Overnight Kagbeni.
Enter the Forbidden Kingdom in full. The trail winds through Chele, Samar, and Syangboche — a surreal high-altitude desert of ochre and red eroded cliffs. Pass ancient mani walls and remote cave hermitages. Ghami has the longest mani wall in Nepal; Tsarang features a hilltop monastery and palace ruins. Overnight Ghami or Tsarang.
The most iconic day of the ride. As you crest the final plateau, the ancient whitewashed walls of Lo Manthang appear like a mirage. The walled city — capital of the Mustang Kingdom — has been inhabited since the 14th century. Check in and make a gentle evening walk to Chyodi Gompa and the Royal Palace.
A full day to explore the Forbidden City at your own pace. Visit Thubchen Gompa (15th-century assembly hall with rare murals), Jampa Lhakhang, Chyodi Gompa, and the Royal Palace. Optional morning excursion to Chhoser Sky Caves — thousand-year-old cave monasteries carved into sheer cliffs north of Lo Manthang, accessible by metal ladder.
Ride south through Ghami and Kagbeni, then ascend to Muktinath — one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in both Hindu and Buddhist traditions. The Muktinath Temple features 108 sacred water spouts, an eternal flame fed by natural gas, and panoramic views toward Thorung La Pass (5,416m). Overnight Muktinath or Ranipauwa.
Descend from Muktinath through Jomsom and the full length of the Kali Gandaki gorge — savoring every bend now with the ride behind you. Stop at Tatopani for a well-earned soak in the famous hot springs. Continue to Pokhara. Farewell dinner lakeside. Overnight Pokhara.
Final ride back to Kathmandu on the Prithvi Highway, or take the scenic 25-minute flight (surcharge applies). Bike handover and group debriefing on arrival. Transfer to hotel. Tour officially ends — completion certificates distributed. Onward departures as per your international flight schedule.
