"The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek is like a refreshing escape in a place full of natural beauty. "

The Annapurna Base Camp trek, situated at 4,130 meters, is commonly referred to as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. This trek offers up-close and unparalleled views of massive mountain ranges, including Hiunchuli, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and Annapurna South peaks.

The best time for this trek is during spring when Rhododendron forests bloom in vibrant colors (red, pink, and white), creating a beautiful contrast with the rugged mountain scenery. However, you can trek to Annapurna Base Camp throughout the year.

Here's a glimpse of the majestic snow-capped peaks you'll encounter along the trail: Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m), Mt. Manaslu (8163m), Mt. Annapurna II (7937m), Mt. Annapurna III (7555m), Mt. Annapurna IV (7525m), Mt. Annapurna South (7219m), Mt. Nilgiri (7041m), Mt. Machapuchare (6998m), Mt. Hiunchuli (6441m), Mt. Lamjung Himal (6986m), and Tukuche Peak (6920m).

Additionally, you'll catch glimpses of Tharpu Chuli (5663m), Singu Chuli (6501m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and South Annapurna (7219m) along the trail. The journey is adorned with Buddhist stone monuments (chortens), prayer flags, yaks grazing, bamboo and rhododendron forests, and the unique Tibetan-style architecture of the region.

Highlights of Annapurna Base Camp

  • Witness the grand panorama of some of the highest peaks in the Himalayas including Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Fishtail, Manaslu and more.
  • Cross the high mountain pass of Thorong La at 5,416m altitude.
  • Visit interesting locations including the bustling town of Manang, the hot spring village of Tatopani and the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath.
  • Morning hike to Poon Hill for a breathtaking sunrise view covering most of the region.
  • Walk through lovely forested trails decorated with rhododendron, magnolia, oaks and pine tree lines.
  • Explore various eco systems ranging from low warm paddy fields to sub alpine temperatures to arctic zone of ice and glaciers.

Best Time To Visit Annapurna Base Camp

Autum ( September to November)

  • This is one of favored season for the Annapurna Base Camp because of the clear skies, mild temperatures, and limited rain. You'll relish magnificent, pristine vistas of the Annapurna range and nearby peaks. Daytime temperatures are pleasantly mild, with chilly yet manageable nights. Anticipate more fellow trekkers on the trail, so it's wise to secure your accommodations ahead of time.

Spring ( March to May)

  • The scenery bursts into vibrant colors with rhododendrons and wildflowers in full bloom, creating a colorful show for trekkers. While you can generally enjoy clear views, occasional afternoon clouds may appear as May approaches. Days are warm, but as you ascend, nights can get quite chilly. Birdwatchers will have a fantastic time, as migratory birds are active during this season.

Winter ( December to Februrary)

  • The upper areas, particularly Thorong La Pass, can become covered in snow and may become inaccessible after heavy snowfall. The skies are usually clear, providing sharp views of snow-capped peaks. Lower elevations are cool to moderately chilly, while higher altitudes become extremely cold, especially at night. If you're trekking in winter, ensure you have the right gear and verify the pass's conditions.

Monsoon ( June to August )

  • During this season, there are frequent heavy rainfalls that make the trails slippery and attract leeches in lower areas. You can anticipate cloudy skies with reduced mountain visibility. Certain regions face a higher risk of landslides. While the weather is warm, humidity levels rise. The valleys are lush and verdant, making it a culturally vibrant time to explore, especially if you're interested in experiencing the daily lives of the locals without the tourist crowds.

Brilliant ABC trek would definitely recommend

9th April, 2019

I did the Anapurna Base Camp trek with Bishnu - and couldn’t recommend it more! We had an amazing time over our 8-day hike and were sad to say goodbye to our excellent guide and porter (Nissan at the end). Not only did they get us up to ABC safely but they taught us much about the mountain area, local customs, and even some Nepalese. We also enjoyed playing cards together every evening. I had a few worries about the Avalanche risk at the time we did our trek, and many other trekkers we met turned around. But Bishnu helped me all the way on the last bit of the route to MBC and ABC! I would definitely recommend this Agency to book any Nepalese trek through and will be back to do the Everest Base Camp with them soon!!
