Best Time For Ganesh Himal Trek
Spring (March-May):
- Best time for hiking and climbing in the Himalayas. Mild temperatures and vibrant wildflowers, like the famous Rhododendrons.
Summer/Monsoon (June-August):
- Not recommended due to heavy rains, high heat, and uncomfortable conditions. Stunning views but risky for trekking.
Autumn (September-November):
- Clear skies, clean mountain views, and cultural festivals like Dashain and Tihar make it an ideal time to visit the Himalayas in Nepal.
Winter (December-February):
- Possible to trek, with clear skies and beautiful sunsets, but trails may be blocked by snow. Daytime temperatures are stable, but nights are colder. Adventure seekers may still enjoy this season.

After a tasty breakfast, your city guide will take you on a tour of Kathmandu's charming narrow streets. Your first stop is Durbar Square, which served as the royal seat until the 20th century and is now a living museum with monuments that are over 800 years old. Next, you'll visit the Swayambhunath stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, situated atop a hill about 3 kilometers from the city center. Both of these sites are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In the afternoon, you can explore Thamel for any last-minute trekking essentials.

After an early breakfast, we embark on our main journey, using local transportation to head north along a picturesque route. Along the way, you'll enjoy the scenery, which includes streams, terraced fields, villages, and glimpses of the Alps on clear mornings. The initial part of the journey to Trishuli Bazaar offers moderately beautiful views. As we continue, the road becomes a bit rougher as it ascends to our final destination for today, Kispang.

Starting from Kispang, we kick off our trek by following a trail that takes us through expansive fields and forests. It's an invigorating and slightly challenging first day as we ascend through picturesque farmland. We'll stop for lunch at ThuloKharka and then continue on to Rupchet, an open area with local herder's shelters. Here, we can soak in the stunning views of the surrounding landscape and the snow-covered Himalayan peaks.

Our journey begins at Rupchet, where we start our uphill hike. We'll pass through lush spring pastures, encountering yaks, sheep, and cattle along the way. Eventually, we'll reach Singla Pass (4050 m), the highest point of our ascent, offering magnificent vistas of the surrounding landscapes, including the Annapurnas, Manaslu, and the imposing Ganesh Himal to the west. Continuing our trek, we'll traverse more meadows with stunning views, pass through dense forests with pine, rhododendron (in various colors), and oak trees, witness a beautiful waterfall, and come across a monastery before finally reaching the charming village of Tipling (2078 m) with its picturesque houses in the fields.

Our journey today is short and pleasant as we head towards Shertung and Chalis Gaon (1800 m). We'll begin by descending through a serene forest, crossing a river, and then making our way to the lovely village of Chalish Gaon, nestled in a picturesque setting. Just above Chailsh Gaon, at 1875 m, you'll find Shertung village. These charming communities provide ample opportunities to explore or simply relax while soaking in the breathtaking views of the nearby farms and the lush valley below. Shertung and Chalish Gaon are primarily inhabited by Gurung, Tamang, and Dalit people.

We bid farewell to Chalish Gaon and begin our ascent towards Neber, a charming Tamang village. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to admire the spectacular Ganesh Himal up close from this settlement. The trail then leads us past the picturesque village of Tir before reaching the hospitable villages of Rachyat Gaon.

Today's journey takes us through a captivating rural landscape. We proceed to Laphchyat, a charming Gurung village with more than 30 houses. Our path follows a beautiful shaded stone trail that ascends the hill and then continues with a lengthy walk through the village's terraced hills. Finally, we reach Lapagaon (1850 m), a spacious traditional village with a river flowing through it and a vast plateau serving as a playground. Khading (2025 m), one of the primary Gurung settlements in the area, is situated above Lapagaon. The locals here are warm, sociable, and enthusiastic about showcasing their cultural dances to traditional music.

We'll enjoy breakfast in Khading Gaon before embarking on a brief downhill trek. Afterward, we'll turn right into Chyamchat hamlet. The path leads us through small villages, rice terraces, and forests until we reach Kutawal, where we'll take a break for lunch. Our journey continues to Ri Gaon via Tawal. Ri Gaon is a sizable village primarily inhabited by Tamang and Dalit communities.

Shortly after enjoying breakfast, we embark on a pleasant and straightforward hike. We'll traverse the rice fields to reach the broader valley, passing by various Brahmin and Dalit communities along the way. Our journey concludes in the charming village of Phulkharka, predominantly inhabited by Brahmins. We'll have lunch en route and savor a delicious dinner at a cozy guesthouse.

Strolling through rice paddies and a small village, we meander along the Ankhu Khola river, passing through several charming towns on our way. Our journey offers breathtaking views of picturesque rice fields, terraces, and communities. We pause briefly near Rine to enjoy a delightful dinner break before continuing our trek to Jyamrung Durbar/Danda, a historically significant area where the remains of a centuries-old palace once inhabited by the local king still stand. This is an incredible spot to witness both sunrise and sunset, as well as take in the stunning mountain vistas of the Langtang, Ganesh, and Manaslu ranges.
