Overview And Highlights
TRIP FACTS
Do you possess an unwavering and can-do mindset? This expedition will put your endurance to the test, challenging you as you embark on a regular high-altitude trek through the remarkable, remote, and untamed terrain of the grand Himalayas. Your journey will take you across three formidable passes: Sherpani Col (meaning pass) at 6110m, West Col (6135m), and Amphu Lapcha Pass (5845m). In Tibetan, "Col" signifies a pass.
This is undeniably an adventure designed for the fearless, thrill-seeking explorer unafraid of exerting themselves to achieve their objective. The Sherpani Col Trek is also known as the Makalu Sherpani Col Trek. Reaching Sherpani Col (6110m) will necessitate significant effort at this high altitude, but in exchange, you will witness a magnificent spectacle before you. Look to the north, and you'll behold the world's fifth-highest mountain, Mt. Makalu (8485m), and to the west, the imposing Island Peak (6189m). This is the realm of glaciers and the habitat of three of the world's top five highest peaks, including Makalu.
This trek follows a course across a mountain range situated between Makalu and Everest. It combines cross-country trekking with more advanced mountaineering techniques, such as fixed ropes and occasional use of an ice axe, to navigate the "Three Cols." Most days will find you trekking at elevations ranging from 4000 to up to 6000 meters.
The journey commences with a flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar in the eastern part of Nepal, proceeding to Khadbari (1025m), Chichila (1800m), Num (1500m), Seduwa (1493m), Tashi Gaun (2200m), Kahuma Danda (3500m), Mumbuk (3400m), Nehe Kharka (3750m), Sherson (4600m), Barun-Che Base Camp (4800m), High Camp (5200m), High Camp at (5700m), camping on the Moraine (5640m) via Sherpani Col (6115m), Panch Pokhari (5480m) via Amphu Laptsa (5780m), Amphu Labtsa Base Camp, Chhukung (4730m), Tyangboche (3867m), Namche Bazaar (3430m), and finally to Lukla (2800m), where you will take a flight back to Kathmandu.
Along the trail, you will relish extraordinary vistas of renowned peaks such as Kanchenjunga, Makalu I, Makalu II, Jannu, Baruntse, Lhotse, Everest, Ama Dablam, Pumori, and Thamserku.
